Dato Sagor Track Day
What was supposed to the Round 1 of the Perak Super Series (PS2), ended up a total catastrophe. The drift competition was canceled on Sunday. I do not want to get into the details, but we continued with an open drift session for Sunday. I became the judge & the remaining drifters agreed to run a 21 car tandem battle.
Here are some videos from the practice session on Saturday. Awesome track.
Tandem Assassin AE86, 2009 Edition
We’ve made some minor changes/adjustments to the AE86 this year. We started by swapping to a new shell. The original shell has been competing since 2005 and is in desperate need of a rebuild. We found a couple of cracks at major hard points and agreed that it needed attention.
During the process of rebuild we’ve managed to further reduce the weight and installed a new fiber rear hatch without a spoiler. Roll cage design was also tweaked to increase rigidity. The original motor was fitted and mated to a new exhaust system, courtesy of TONKKA. We’ve made slight changes to their original design and gained an additional 10hp @ the wheels. We’ll be releasing a “TDL Spec” TONKKA system once the design is finalized.
Suspension geometry was tweaked to improve traction, angle and agility. The car won its first event @ the final round of Star Drift Challenge Series 2008 2 weeks ago.
STP Oil
BRIDGESTONE DRIFT TEAM would like welcome our new co-sponsor, STP OIL. Ivan Lau will be piloting the “Active FC3S” in full STP livery throughout the 2009 season. The car is currently being worked on & expected to burn rubber @ Star Drift Challenge 2009 Series.
We’re all looking forward to a great working relationship.
Star Drift Challenge 2008 Champ!
Finally! 2008 championship was concluded last weekend at A’ Famosa resort. It has been a tough season for me since D1GP Malaysia back in 2006. With the new points system, consistency played a very important role. Hats off to Tat Wei for leading the championship all the way till the final round.
Tat Wei had a 16 point advantage coming into the final round. The only way to beat him was to qualify 1st & win. I some how pulled it off and managed to gain a 2 point advantage
Last weekend was also the team’s first ever 1st, 2nd & 3rd finish. Congratulations to all the team members. Lets keep this momentum through to the 2009 season.
Overall Series Champion – Tengku Djan
1st Runner-Up – Tan Tat Wei
8th Placing – Ivan Lau
