Toyo DRIFT Malaysia Series Rd 2 Results
It’s been some time since I last posted. I’ve been totally tied up with work commitments and events, I haven’t had time to update. So I’ll be doing that now. Better late than never!
As most of you would know Toyo DRIFT Rd2 was held at Bkt Jalil Stadium. There were some safety issues with the original track layout which actually followed the original D1GP Malaysia Preview back in 2005. After a few incidents, the organizers decided to change the layout to minimize any risk. We ended up with an “Odaiba”ish track which was actually faster & more technical compared to the previous.
This was the last opportunity for me to test the Silvia before the month of “Ramadhan”. As we know, Motorsports is at a stand still during fasting month, and we thought of using this opportunity to strip down the car for a full overhaul before we ship it across to the States for the REDBULL World Championship.
I qualified in 1st position with 99.75 points. Both Tat Wei & Ivan were in the Top 8. I was very satisfied with the performance of the Silvia even though I finished in 2nd position. It was still Team Bridgestone 1st & 2nd in a TOYO event! We had 2 sudden death runs and I was gambling on tires. We decided not to change the rears just to see how many laps we could go for. The car started to washout on the final run which cost me the win, but then again, the objective was to test & collect as much information before we set out for the W.C.
