The MME 12Hr Endurance was held at Sepang Circuit on 30th August 2008. A total of 105 teams registered for this yearly event, with only 76 cars able to start the race.
Team Proton R3 has been involved with MME since 2004, winning the overall title twice in a row in 2005 & 2006 with the Lotus Exige 300RR which was built by Lotus Sport UK & developed locally by Team R3. We have also contested with Proton Cars in Class C (1600) finishing 3rd (2006) & 5th (2007).
The Satria Neo R3 debut was in 2007, qualifying 7th in class with a time 0f 2:39sec, but technical issues robbed us of a finish.
A lot more effort was put into the cars this year, with build & testing starting as early as 6 months before the actual race. I decided to step out of the driver seat for the first time and took on the team management role instead to ensure we had a strong team.
This year the Satria Neo R3 emerged victorious in Class B (1800) 4 laps ahead of the 2nd placed competitor. Congratulations to the team. Yet another triumphant year. HIDUP R3!
