StarDrift Challenge 2008, Round 1
It’s been a while since I last updated the blog. It’s been a busy month. We prepped the 86 as T-car for Formula Drift, upgraded the turbo on the Silvia to a GT3037 supplied & tuned by GT Auto. The car now pushes 415PS with 430Nm of torque @ wheels. Response is phenomenal.
The team also competed in StarDrift Challenge Round 1 held at A-Famosa Resort on 12 -13 April 2008. For us it was the final session before Formula Drift Singapore.
As usual, Bridgestone Drift Team dominated the local drift scene by taking both 1st and 2nd spots. Tat Wei was on song the whole weekend, demonstrating speed and consistency. I spent my time fine tuning the handling of the Silvia. The car is finally showing some speed. Grip level has increased tremendously and response & agility as potent as the 86. But Tao was in better form during our final battle and was able to maintain pressure on the silvia.
Ivan came equipped with TORQ Nitrous Systems 50HP SHOT. But he was struggling all weekend. Suffering from poor handling, a blown gearbox and a worn out LSD. Looks like the additional HP caused the car to show its weaknesses.
Anyway it’s was a good opportunity for us to test out the cars, making sure our cars were ready and at optimum performance for Formula Drift Singapore, 26 – 27 April 2008.

D1-10 R/C Final Showdown
Final round of the D1-10 R/C Drift Series Malaysia. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s Malaysia’s Premier Remote Control D1 Drift Competition. The event was held at SS19 Planet Speedway RC track, 30th March 2008.
I haven’t been R/C drifting since I left for the World Championship last year. But since it is the final round, i decided to give it a shot. Mind you, I did win Round 3 mid last year
I wasn’t confident at all to begin with. Didn’t have time to run in a new set of tires, so settled for an old set which didn’t pay off. I managed to qualify for the Best-16 and made it through to Best-8. Anyway, I did win “Best Body Shell” award. hahahahaa
All that a side, I had a great time drifting with the R/C Drift Community from all over Malaysia. When these guys get their hands on a real drift machine, we should all be worried.
Last but not least, I would like to thank Azman & Najib for all the hardwork and dedication.
