In preparation for the Bangkok drift event, I decided that the 86 needed more HP. The drift cars in Thailand are powerful. For example, Team Toyo Thailand. Both cars have about 420 wheel hp with HKS sequential gearboxes installed.
Our 86 had 178.2 wheel HP which translates to 213.8 flywheel HP. Toby from GT Auto recommended we go for 200 wheel HP.
Dyno results below. What I like most is the big torque between 5000 – 6000rpm.
Big smoke from the 14″ RE01R’s

The only thing I don’t like about it is when the engine starts to flood while you’re off the gas. You have to bleep the throttle to clear the excess fuel before it starts to free rev again. This makes it difficult to drive during tandem battles.

Tg. Djan. seems that AE86 still reliable for drifting.. But what about if ur competing in D1GP World All Star? seems that those drifters gain a lot of HP from their engine.. So ave u ever wonder bout bolt-on turbo charge on ur 4AGE? Hmm…

I think the 86 will be used as a spare car from now on. I hope to use the SX for the World Championships so we won’t do further development on the 86. I have plans of building a new 86 with a different concept and style. If we do, I’ll only start the project by 3rd quarter this year.
