Star Drift Challenge, Seremban
Star Drift Challenge, 1st competition for 2008 and the only confirmed Malaysian drift series. Respect to the organizers for making it happen and keeping the scene alive.
As mentioned earlier, we were at “Elite Track” testing the DG-5 suspension in preparation for this round. The track is pretty tight, which is not ideal for testing. But it’s as good as it gets. Will definitely organize another “Kampung Gajah” track session after Seremban. Hopefully before Chinese New Year.
The Seremban event was held on a plot of land which used to be an old army camp. Tarmac area was limited which didn’t give much room for a favorable course layout. I was pretty disappointed to begin with, as i expected a larger drift area which would give us opportunity to sort out suspension settings. But once the “Tsuiso Battles” started on Sunday, it made the drifting interesting. The weather wasn’t great, it rained on both days. I was struggling with the speed difference. I was concentrating on maximum entry speed during practice runs. This made it very difficult for me to adjust to the speed of the other competitors. Made a few silly mistakes but i managed to sort myself out after Best 16.
It’s my first win in the Silvia. We’re very happy with the performance. We’ve made huge progress with this car. I’m starting to enjoy driving it now. I think we’re close to developing an awesome car and I might even use it for both Formula D Singapore & D1 World Championship later in the year.
Kudos to the organizers, Ngan & Drift.com.my for pulling it off and giving the people of Negri Sembilan a taste of what drifting is all about!
Last but not least, special thanks to the D1-10RC team for their support on Sunday. Great pics & vids guys!

On behalf of D1-10RC, big thanks to Djan & his dream team for the hospitality they have given us. We are looking forward for the next event (since we’ve got some idea on what to do in the coming event).
As for the event, first of all respect to the organizer but could have been better and can be further improve (especially crowd control and safety measures). Keep it up guys.
Also, respect to the other competitors for putting a great fighting spirit.
Last, big solute to Djan’s team mechanic: Osman & Seng, I would give them ‘mechanic of the year’. Frankly the far best pit mechanic I’ve seen in Malaysia. Give them some bonus lah Djan
